What is Prosthodontics?

How does prosthodontics correct damage or defects?

  1. Damaged teeth may be restored by crowns.

  2. Missing teeth may be restored by implants plus crowns or by non-removable bridges.

  3. Partial dentures may be used to replace multiple missing teeth and resorbed gums and bony ridges.

  4. Complete denture(s) may be used when all teeth in the arch are missing. Often titanium bone implants are used to secure dentures from shifting.
  5. Facial or other oral structures may also be replaced by various methods such as can occur in cleft palate syndrome or facial trauma.
